EMITT, East Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Exhibition was held for the first time in 1997 at Tuyap Fuar Merkezi in Tepebasi under the name Voyager International Tourism and Vacation Exhibition.

The exhibition which focused mostly on domestic tourism during the first two years, later turned into a trade exhibition where global travel destinations were showcased as well as a result of the demand from regional countries and the international tourism sector.

The event, which was renamed as EMITT, East Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Exhibition in 1999, started to be organized at Tuyap Fuar ve Kongre Merkezi in Buyukcekmece after the exhibition venue in Tepebasi, was no longer sufficient.

Having entered among the top five tourism exhibition in the world in only 16 years, EMITT tourism exhibition contributes directly to the growth of the tourism sector in the region with its ever expanding participant and visitor base.
