TTW – Georgia is well known for its landscapes and serene beauty; tell me how Luxury Living Savannah blends luxury with unspoiled landscapes to woo visitors?
Tammy Jo Long : All of our properties are located at the premiere locations in Savannah. The Wedding Cake Mansion is on Famous Monterey Square where The Mercer House is from Mid Night in the Garden of Evilwhere all of the mansions of Savannah are located. Monterey Square is considered the most beautiful square in Savannah.Side note: I will be getting married myself in Monterey square this September and having my reception at the Wedding Cake Mansion! I finally get to have my Cake and enjoy it too!! Our Washington Square House is located in the peaceful and oldest section of Savannah on beautiful Washington Square just steps from River Street. Our Jones Street Suites are located on what has been quoted as America’s prettiest street by Southern Living Magazine. Jones Street is the highest real estate valued street in Savannah. It is where the phrase “keeping up with the Jones” came from.
TTW – 2013 saw a huge surge in hotel occupancy in the U.S. How did Luxury Living Savannah manage the festive seasons?
Tammy Jo Long: A brief account of your last year figures. Since 2011 our occupancy has been increasing every year. A lot of my competition did not survive the recession and the cream always rises to the top.
TTW: What are the marketing strategies that have turned out prosperous for this exquisite wedding destination resort?
Tammy Jo Long: The city of Savannah has a strong national marketing campaign that draws brides from all over the world. Not just the USA. I have had soldiers stationed in Afghanistan planning wedding at the wedding cake mansion from the war zone. I felt privileged to help them and share in our country’s hero’s special day.
TTW: A popular TV soap “Real Housewives” featured the Wedding Cake Mansion of Luxury Living Savannah last year. Are these kinds of promotions helpful for augmenting visitors? Where do we expect to see you again?
Tammy Jo Long: Of course any publicity helps with exposure for our unique and lavish properties. Once people see our properties we never lose a booking! We’ve been featured in many high profile publications recently like O magazine, American Airlines inflight magazine, etc. Our phones were definitely ringing after the Housewives episode. Hopefully we’ll see us in something you publish!!
TTW: If you have to name three countries from which, Luxury Living Savannah has the most bookings, which countries will you pick?
Tammy Jo Long: The USA of course. Then we have a lot of tourists coming from Canada & Europe.
TTW: Speaking about your personal suggestion, which is the best time to visit Savannah?
Tammy Jo Long: The spring and fall is fabulous not only because of the perfect weather but also because of the many festivals and fabulous events. Music Festival, Film Festival, Jazz festival, book festival just to name a few.
TTW: How enterprising 2014 will be according to you? Are you planning to give away some special discounts in due time?
Tammy Jo Long: I always offer a 20% mid-week discount year round. I also run summer and winter specials to attract business in our slower seasons. I’m always open to suggestions from experts like yourself or doing partnerships. I’m planning a bridal event at the wedding cake mansion with a famous bridal designer, caterers, event planners, photographer, etc. this summer. I think it will be super fun!
TTW: Finally, wedding destinations have always been on the radar of tour operators and travel agents, do you think digital promotion and social media marketing can enhance the popularity and occupancy rates in the present time?
Tammy Jo Long: Absolutely! If you are not working social media today you are going to be left behind. I will be launching 3 new website in February and incorporating blogs and monthly newsletters for savannah and Tybee Island, my other company Luxurylivingtybee.com.
