Vijaye Haulder: France, UK, Germany, South Africa, Italy, New Ireland and India is the seventh.

Vijaye Haulder: Being a small island we don’t want it to be a mass destination, we have a choice just to promote luxury so that we can maintain the ecology and culture , if we promote mass we will not be able to control anything.

Vijaye Haulder: We have the Swami Vivekananda Convention Centre, there are hotels which have facilities for MICE. We have hundred thousand of MICE visitors from all over the world every year.

Vijaye Haulder: Mauritius is one of the top golf destinations and has ten golf courses.

Vijaye Haulder: We have excellent road facility and in the island everything is maintained, the ocean is researched, we rank second in terms of pure air.

Vijaye Haulder: This is a big event, we will have a big ceremony and have invited people and celebrities from all over the world, we are getting ready for that.

Vijaye Haulder: An incentive of 30 percent of the budget is being allocated and it is processed through EDB (Economic Development Board). The incentives are not only for movies but for advertising shoots, web series, TV promotions and serials, there is a minimum qualifying amount based on that there is a subsidy, we are the facilitator and MFDC (Mauritius Film Development Corporation) is the nodal agency for this.

Vijaye Haulder: There is a metro coming up, the first line will be there some times in September/October this year. It will be connecting capital of Port Louis with another town.

Vijaye Haulder: Tier I and II are the gateway points for Mauritius, but the main growth is coming from Tier II and Tier III, we have covered along with MTPA, 22-23 cities and we keep going. We recently completed four cities -Chandigarh, Nagpur, Pune, Hyderabad and Kolkata is fifth. In August September we will do Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore. We are coming up with a new advertising campaign across print and digital and we did promotions in malls.

Vijaye Haulder: These are issues due to new technology however, the planes are safe but it takes time to mature. Boeing will fix it and have the grounded planes flying in no time.

Vijaye Haulder: Mauritius is small country; it is only 1800 square kilometres, the size of Delhi. Getting from south to the north takes a maximum of 1 hr 15 minutes so everyone visits everywhere.

Vijaye Haulder: Table d’hote is popular which means table of the host, people are invited to small restaurants the food is made as per the local tradition and the host explain about the origin.

There are many things that attracts international participation here, Afrasia held in November-December where most of the golfers come from India, there is kite surfing competition and regatta . WTA will be held June and the Indian Ocean games will also happen in July.

Vijaye Haulder: It is the preferred destination for Indian weddings, visa is not a problem and for most national it is free on arrival. Talking especially about Hindu wedding as Mauritius is primarily a Hindu country, we have the infrastructure to conduct all the rituals.

Vijaye Haulder: The two world heritage sites are Aapravasi Ghat in Port Louis (it literally translates into immigration depot) and Le Morne Brabant (Morne means mountain).
