 This week Tourism Ministers of the G20 countries (neatly called “T20”), will meet, together with the Heads of UNWTO, WTTC, PATA and others to finalise a proposed input to next month’s Heads of State meeting in Mexico.
ICTP supports strongly this initiative. Moreover the subject under consideration by the T20 - Facilitation of Tourism and particularly e-visa’s – which we call streamlined travel is one of the three priorities that ICTP has identified as key elements in its green growth andquality advocacy agenda; along with sustainable aviation expansion and fairtaxes. So here’s our take on the issue.

Over 250,000 camping and caravanning enthusiasts around Great Britain will read all about holidays in Mayo and the west of Ireland later this year in the popular Camping & Caravanning magazine.
Journalist Barry Norris – who is also Vice Chairman of the influential UK Caravan Writers’ Guild – arrived in Mayo and the west of Ireland last week, as a guest of the Irish Caravan and Camping Council and Tourism Ireland. Barry was here researching an article he is writing for Camping & Caravanning magazine. |

 The Korea Tourism Organization has released a new travel guidebook simply titled ‘KOREA.’ The guidebook is available in English and provides useful tips and information for international travelers planning a trip to Korea. The 752-page guidebook contains about 1,000 photos and is the largest and most comprehensive travel guidebook on Korea to be published to date.

 LOCOG announced the first 332 people who have been chosen to carry the Paralympic Flame as Torchbearers in the London 2012 Paralympic Torch Relay.The majority of the Torchbearers announced were successful through the public nomination campaigns run by BT, Lloyds TSB and Sainsbury’s, as well as those chosen by the British Paralympic Association.

TripAdvisor announced the results of its annual summer travel survey of more than 1,800 U.S. respondents. Eighty-six percent of travelers are planning leisure trips this summer, up from 81 percent that traveled last summer.

 In the wake of a slower, less predictable economic recovery, mid-market executives are adapting to managing uncertainty, according to Deloitte’s “Mid-Market Perspectives: 2012 Report on America’s Economic Engine.” The annual survey of 528 U.S. executives indicates that 86 percent of respondents believe that continued uncertainty is tempering their expectations for economic growth.

 The German National Tourist Board (GNTB) plans to use a new broad-based social media campaign to promote Germany as a travel destination around the world, particularly among young travellers. The campaign will be launched at the ITB 2013 in Berlin and will continue throughout 2013 and 2014. The planned campaign will support the theme for 2013: 'Germany for young people – vibrant, fashionable, innovative' which caters to a tourism segment offering vast economic potential. The target group is also huge, with current figures showing that about a third of all international visitors to Germany are under the age of 39.

 Belfast’s Park Avenue hotel was the venue for the May board meeting of Tourism Ireland. Minister Arlene Foster met with the board members during the meeting, to hear about Tourism Ireland’s busy programme of promotions, which is under way right now across the globe. The board members also took the opportunity when they were in the city to meet with some Northern Ireland tourism operators, to discuss the forthcoming season and ongoing activity for ni2012.
