ballon A sightseeing hot-air balloon crashed near the Egyptian city of Luxor killing a tourist while 12 other people got injured.

It was revealed that the victim was  a 36-year-old South African woman among those hurt were a number of foreign tourists along with Egyptian nationals.

As per the local media reports the injured passengers were transferred to Luxor International hospital.

The crash took place due to  strong winds forcing the balloon off course above the city’s ancient sites the Egyptian officials said to a news agency.

The incident is not the first fatal hot air balloon crash over Luxor, around 19 foreign tourists were killed when the balloon caught fire after a gas leak in 2013.

Although the balloon rides are monitored by cameras it banned from flying above 2,000m
