The Chinese tourists have spent a record $10 billion in Australia since last year and their number has surpassed the Kiwi visitors.
The overall visitor spent was $41.2 billion. It was noted that this was the first time the Chinese spending exceeded $10 billion.
International visitors above the age of 15 years over grew by seven per cent reaching more than eight million people. It was reported that they stayed a record 268 nights.
Trade Minister Steve Ciobo wants the Chinese tourist to continue to choose to Australia and travel more here.
He wants to see full planes flying from Shanghai to Sydney, Beijing to Brisbane and Guangzhou to Cairns.
More tourists visiting Australia implies more business for our hotels, shops and restaurants which new job opportunities.
