The Transportation Security Administration (TSA), would be screening an estimated record 107 million passengers during spring break between March 14 to April 28, 2019. It will be an increase of more than three per cent compared to the same period in 2018.

Through the Airport Operations Center, TSA tracks daily screening operations at every major airport where it can react to issues and deploy and shift resources as needed, including personnel, canine teams and technology.

TSA remains committed to ensuring the highest level of security for the travelling public even as passenger volume continues to increase. They work along with airport, airline and industry partners every day to improve the travelling experience during the spring break.

However, TSA has warned of possible delays at airports across the United States due to rising volumes. To help avoid the long lines, travellers can apply for TSA Pre-Check.

To further assist travellers during the spring break, the TSA is offering a list of tips and tricks to make the airport experience more enjoyable, including arriving early, preparing for security protocols, following the liquids rules, checking for prohibited items and more.

TSA has reminded what tiems can be carried on flights. Toiletries like shampoos or conditioners must be 3.4 ounces or less to be in your carry-on luggage. Bottled water must also be at least 3.4 ounces. Prescription medications will be screened. Items like razor blades, bottle openers, large scissors and tools like pliers and hammers will be checked.
