Riding a futuristic flying car is about to become a reality for the globetrotters as a tech firm from Israel is soon to launch the passenger drone by 2020. The 1500 kg flying car ‘Cormorant’ can travel at a speed of 185 km per hour, carrying 500 kg of weight.
The developers of Cormorant, ‘Urban Aeronautics’ have revealed the estimated price of the passenger drone will be around $14 million. In November, 2016, the drone has successfully completed the automated solo flight for the first time over the terrain.
The use of internal rotors in the dark green car, make it different than helicopters. The developers have informed that the drone can evacuate the passengers if it faces any difficulty.
The tech firm Urban Aeronautics is based in a hanger in central Israel’s Yavne.
The founder and CEO of Urban Aeronautics, Rafi Yoeli believes that the flying cars are safer than helicopters as the autonomous vehicle does not have any blades and can fly below power lines and between the buildings.
According to sources, the Cormorant did not meet all the Federal Aviation Administration standards yet.
