Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the chairman and the chief executive of Emirates airline and group said that the delivery of 787-10 aircraft will start in 2022 and will continue till 2030s.
It has been reported that the aircraft will be used to replace the existing aircraft and further developing the airline’s route strategy.
787 will be great complement to the 777 and A380 fleet offering more flexibility in serving range of destinations while developing the global route network.
Emirates strategy has always been investment in the most advanced and efficient aircraft and the orders is a proof of that. The announcement is also reflective of the future of aviation in the UAE.
Kevin McAllister, Boeing Commercial Airplanes president and chief executive said that they were excited that Emirates had selected the Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner to increase its fleet expansion and future growth.
The airplane is expected to set new benchmark for operating economics in the commercial aviation industry after its entry by next year. The endorsement will extend the long-standing partnership and create many jobs in the US.
Emirates is also said to have been evaluating the engine options for its Dreamliner order.
The agreement states that Emirates will have the conversion rights to switch aircraft to787-9s providing more flexibility to its future fleet.
