As per Xiomara Martinez, tourism counselor at the Cuban Embassy to Mexico predicted that more than 150,000 Mexicans will be vacationing in Cuban tourist destinations this year. Last year, 136,000 Mexicans traveled to Mexico, as she told Prensa Latina.
This represented a 30 percent growth in comparison to the previous year. She expressed that there is a huge attraction for the Cuban sun and beach destinations, heritage cities, as well as participation in cultural, educational, sports, medical, tourist event, among travelers. Air connectivity is guaranteed via 63 weekly flights from Cubana de Aviacion, Interjet and Aeromexico, from Mexico City, Monterrey, Yucatan and Cancun respectively.
She also said that from Puebla by Copa Airlines, with more than 76 percent. After Canada and the United States, Martinez said that Mexico is the third international market in terms of air connectivity with the island.
