A popular lifestyle magazine, called Celtic Life International, is the latest publication celebrating and showcasing the spectacular landscape of the western seaboard and the Wild Atlantic Way. The June edition of the magazine, which has more than 170,000 readers across the United States and Canada, includes a 12-page article dedicated to Ireland and the Wild Atlantic Way.
Tourism Ireland invited the author of the article to visit last year. The resulting article – simply titled “Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way” – describes “the rugged majesty” of the western seaboard, which “might only be surpassed by its warm and welcoming people”. He says that “the Irish are wonderful hosts, particularly on the west coast, where residents take Céad Míle Fáilte to heart”. He writes about the “raw physical beauty” of the Burren, which “has inspired poets, painters, photographers, and artists of all disciplines for hundreds of years” and the Cliffs of Moher, which are “majestic, grand and glorious”.
The article also describes Galway city, the “creative capital of Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way”, the “breathtaking views” on Achill Island, as well as Sligo and the “150th anniversary of the birth of its most famous bard – William Butler Yeats”.
In 2014, almost 8,000 print, online and broadcast articles and stories delivered positive messages about Ireland to potential visitors around the world. Tourism Ireland estimates that this exposure was worth more than €300 million. Dana Welch, Tourism Ireland’s manager Canada, said: “We are delighted with the extensive coverage in the June edition of Celtic Life International magazine, which is an excellent way of showcasing the Wild Atlantic Way to a large audience of prospective holidaymakers across North America. Tourism Ireland undertakes a busy publicity programme each year, to raise the profile of the destination and the many things to see and do on a holiday in Ireland.”
