The Würzburg-Heidingsfeld station in Germany encountered a mass slaughter as a 17-year-old Afghan refugee ambushed passengers with an axe inside a train. The incident occurred around 9 pm, local time. The police officials shot the man dead as he tried to flee the scene.
The man-slaughter injured 18 travellers and painted the compartment red with their blood. As soon as the news of the attack got out, armed police force swarmed the entire area.
Among the 18 injured travellers, four are reported to be in a serious medical condition. Three of the passengers are battling with death right at this moment.
The attacker was carrying a knife and an axe.
The motive behind the attack is still not clear.
According to the witnesses, the 17-year-old Afghan was shouting “Allahu Akbar” as he attacked the passengers all of a sudden. After the attack, the man tried to flee the scene as the train halted at the outskirt of Wuerzburg. During his confrontation with the police, the refugee tried to attack them but got shot dead instead.
Passengers, who did not get wounded in the attack, were being treated for shock. The rail carriage was covered in blood and people were crawling out from the carriage as it reached the station.
The emergency crew, including dozens of police officials and paramedics, swarmed the scene to provide aid to the passengers. A family from Hong Kong also got injured in the axe-attack.
The latest ‘lone wolf attack’ left entire Europe numb.
