This Tuesday, Thai Tourism agency and Etihad Airways signed US$ 1 million contract in order to promote South East Asian countries in Middle East and Europe. The contract will be effective from this month with equal amount of spent by Tourism Authority of Thailand and Etihad. UAE was one of the seven markets to boost Thailand in addition to France, the UK, Italy, Germany and Kuwait.
To quote Tim Burnell, Etihad’s Vice President for marketing, “Bangkok continues to be one of the busiest in our network enjoying strong year-round demand, particularly from the UAE, [Arabian Gulf], Middle East, Africa and Europe’’.
The carrier has five regular flights flying to Thailand, four to Bangkok and one to Phuket with more than 21,800 seats weekly in this sector. Last year more than 800,000 passengers flew between Bangkok and Etihad.
To quote Tanes Petsuwan, the deputy governor of the Thai tourism agency, “The new partnership with Etihad Airways will be a great benefit to both parties – to Thailand in terms of increased visitor numbers and to Etihad Airways in terms of promoting its international network’’. June 2016, TAT collaborated with Emirates Airlines to enhance tourism.
