2014 Cellar Door Wine Festival Program Launched

Adelaide Convention CentreThe program announced this week has South Australian food and produce playing a bigger part in the Festival alongside the wines from more than 150 South Australian Wineries.

 

South Australian MasterChef contestant now Thailand resident Marion Grasby will Guest Chef at the Festival and showcase her talents through a series of three Master Classes.

 

Dishes prepared by Marion during her Master Classes including the Long Table Lunch and Valentine’s Day Master Class will be matched by selected wines from the Festival

 

South Australian cheese will also be a key feature of the 2014 Festival with a special cheese being created for the event by The Smelly Cheese Shop as well as an Extreme Cheese Experience Master Class.

 

There will also be a Farmer’s Market, Meet the Maker demonstrations by local producers and a new TAFESA interactive food, wine, beer and cheese tastings..

 

Primary Industries and Regions SA (PIRSA) has come on-board once again as Event Major Sponsor.

 

The Cellar Door Wine Festival is managed and hosted by the Adelaide Convention Centre.

 

ACC Chief Executive Alec Gilbert said the 2014 Festival will offer visitors new experiences, ideas and inspiration.

 

“The blend of South Australian wine and food is the perfect combination and the Festival brings them together under one roof so visitors are able to discover and sample the best of the state – simply and easily.”

 

“Many visitors to the Festival are introduced to wineries and food producers they’ve never come across before and may not have discovered unless they visited the region of origin.

 

“The Festival differs from other wine and food events because it’s educational and gives people a greater understanding of the characteristics of each region and the varying styles of the local wineries and producers.”

 

In 2014, two new regions will be added to Festival – Adelaide Plains and Eyre Peninsula – taking the number of regions represented to fifteen.Thirty new wineries have also joined the Festival for 2014.

 

Thousands of wines will be offered for tasting at the Festival including many of the wineries new releases, which won’t yet be available for retail sale.

 

Each visitor is given a Riedel glass for unlimited tastings, a branded calico shopping bag and a passportthat includes notes about the regions and wine tasting tips to plan and record their Festival experience.

 

Wine buyers will be able to take advantage of the ‘Pick n Pack’ service where 6 or 12 bottles of wine purchased at the Festival can be packed and shipped to any destination in Australia for only $7.

 

Tickets go on sale on October 10th with lower priced tickets available if you book online.
