Minister for Tourism and Major Events John Eren congratulated the Victorian businesses who took out awards at last night’s gala event (Nov 24).

“Victoria is only the tourism and events capital of Australia because of the hard work of those at the coalface. We’re so grateful for their efforts,” Eren said.

The awards were given in different categories. The Major Festivals and Events award went to Australian Grand Prix Corporation while Bendigo Tramways won in the Cultural Tourism category.

Sovereign Hill was named Major Tourist Attractions, BIG4 Beacon Resort received award in Caravan and Holiday Parks category, Drift House was named best Luxury Accommodation.

John McGaw was awarded in the Outstanding Contribution by an Individual category while Excellence in Food Tourism award went to Green Olive at Red Hill.

Tourism is worth more than $21 billion to Victoria’s economy and creates jobs for 210,000 Victorians.
