The 2016 Retirement, Lifestyle and Travel Expo kicked off today at EPIC in Canberra. The inaugural ceremony saw healthy food cooking demonstrations and a performance by Australian rock legend Normie Rowe, Minister for Veterans and Seniors Dr Chris Bourke said today.
“The Expo is a great way for Canberrans to learn and discover more, under one roof, about the wide range of retirement and lifestyle options that are available to them,” Dr Bourke said.
“It offers information, advice and practical demonstrations, which are provided to assist our seniors to make choices about their retirement and lifestyle options, with a positive focus on healthy and active ageing.
The Expo features more than 100 exhibitors representing a range of topics and interests to seniors, including health, wellbeing, financial planning products, holidays and travel, plus retirement and lifestyle options.
“The legendary Normie Rowe, one of Australia’s great rockers from the 60’s, who has been performing for over five decades, will perform a mixture of rock and soul classics at the Expo this year,” the minister said in a media statement.
“There is also a Healthy Eating for Seniors’ food demonstration, an initiative of Nutrition Australia ACT and the ACT Government.
“I would like to acknowledge EMS, the Expo organisers for their generosity and community spirit in providing free admission to the Expo for all ACT Veterans, through the presentation of either their DVA Pension Card or Membership Card of the RSL.”
The Expo runs from Friday 29 April until Sunday 1 May, from 10am to 4pm daily.
