In this year’s summer, many of those visitors are anticipated to turn up by ferry in Belfast. As per Stena Line, one of the popular ferry operators in the world, the increase that they have witnessed in case of Chinese visitors from Cairnryan is because of direct result of the participation of Stena in the sales mission of Tourism Ireland in recent years.
It due to this that many important tour operators of China highlighting the Stena sailing – and Northern Ireland have included into their itinerary as part of an expansive UK tour.
Side by side, the British Irish Visa Scheme also helped the Chinese visitors to pour into the UK as well as Ireland on the basis of a single visa. This has also played a key driving force behind the growth in the number of visitors to Northern Ireland and the island of Ireland.
Last year, almost 60,000 Chinese visitors were welcomes to the island of Ireland.
David Boyce, Tourism Ireland’s Head of Asia, Middle East and UK Inbound, said, said: “China is an important emerging travel market and one that Tourism Ireland is committed to growing over the coming years. Approximately 4 million Chinese travel to Europe annually and Tourism Ireland is working hard to win a greater share of that business for Northern Ireland and the island of Ireland.
“We are really pleased that our sales mission to China has resulted in such positive results for Stena Line and we look forward to welcoming many more Chinese visitors in the future.”
