2017 has been declared by UN as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development. Bringing travel responsibly to the forefront, travel provider HolidayME has come up with a list of resolution which vacationers can remember and imply while traveling and exploring new destinations this year.
A deeper sense of commitment to the locals without harming them and restoring their fragile nature is the new catch word for ‘travel more responsibly in 2017’ program released by HolidayME this year. It urges the travelers to choose homestays, eco-lodges and camps over five-star luxury hotels. This way one gets to understand the local culture, traditions and human relations in a much better way unlike putting up in luxury accommodations.
Local cuisines and delicacies are also being prioritized than readymade burgers and fries. Eating out at the homestays or in some local eatery is being publicized than dining in fancy restaurants. It also emphasizes travelers to read on various travel books to know in and out of a place’s culture, food, geography, customs, history and economics. Explore the less-traveled destinations in contrast to the flashy ones.
Buy souvenirs and local handicrafts as these small steps will eventually help different local communities who are trying hard to establish tourism and are dependent on their for maximum economic gain.
