This year was the year of awards for Madhya Pradesh Tourism. Winning ten national tourism awards, the State turned out to be one of the preferred upcoming tourist spot in the country. The efforts conducted in the year 2016 proved utile for the tourism sector as it saw an influx in tourist numbers in the State.
It has to be observed that in 2016, Madhya Pradesh “Tourism Cabinet” gave industry recognition to tourism sector. The Tourism Cabinet accepted the Tourism Policy-2016 in terms of integrated development of tourism in the State. The new tourism policy is effectual for upcoming five years.
The major stress is being given on socio-economic development with the help of integrated tourism along with coordinated efforts of all State Government departments. According to the new Tourism Policy, investors are entitled to receive tourism grants across the state.
Within the eligibility list for recieving capital grants, adventure tourism, water tourism, amusement and entertainment parks and wellness centers have been included.
Tourism Cabinet is all prepared to open eco and adventure tourism for private investment. Also for film tourism, water tourism and sustainable tourism, specific provisions have been made in terms of their promotion in the new policy.
This year, Madhya Pradesh won the ‘Best Tourism State’ national award. Besides, the state bagged the Most Innovative Tourist Product award for ‘Hanuwantia Jal Mahotsav’ along with Best State for Adventure Tourism. In addition to that, Chanderi was adjudged as the Best Heritage City, the Best Tourist-Friendly Railway Station award was given to Ujjain Railway Station.
