Bahrain is not much advertised countries among GCC nations for travel and tourism purposes. As per unofficial sources, Bahrain receives majority of its visitors or weekend rush from Saudi Arabia as the nationals could easily cross the King Fahad Causeway and enter Bahrain seamlessly.
Nevertheless, as per a recent release of datas show that by 2020, Bahrain will receive almost $ 1 billion visitors, attracting travelers across the globe. The statistics were released by Arabian Travel Market (ATM), an important international travel and tourism event in the Middle East. However, this year the Dubai World Trade Centre will be the venue of this edition from April 24 to 27.
The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority (BTEA) is looking for inbound travelers all over the world as the authority organize a strong marketing campaign in order to attract 15.8 million visitors by 2018 . Currently, 36.2 per cent increase is on the visitor numbers. To quote Simon Press, senior exhibition director of ATM, ‘’ The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority has engaged with a number of public authorities and private sector organizations over recent months and the returns are beginning to be realized. The BTEA now operates seven official representation offices worldwide, with a focus on source markets in Europe and Asia, and will continue to work hand-in- hand with hotels, tour operators and cruise lines to achieve its objectives.’’
