Surrounding the new tourism sector of Saudi Arabia, there has been happening so much, starting right from allowing visitors from 49 countries to enjoy vacation in the kingdom to instant electronic visas for foreign visitors keen on taking part in a festival.
The President and Chief Executive of the World Travel and Tourism Council, Gloria Guevara, recently mentioned that by 2021, tourism within the country will account for 5% of the GDP of KSA. Revealing that Saudi Arabia’s recent progressive reforms are working, she also said, “We will see an interesting growth based on changes they made on visas … and millions of new jobs will be created.”
For some time now, the wheels have been in motion for Vision 2030, and one of the prime importances of the plan is to boost up revenues within tourism by up to 18% over the next decade or so. The kingdom is anticipated to arrange over 1.5 million tourists by 2020.
It has been established by now that a major percentage of tourists in Saudi Arabia pour due to religious purposes, however the country at present is putting prime effort into enthusing and growing its leisure tourism and this has been apparent as the kingdom hosted many sporting events, festivals and concerts, where international tourists have been welcomed with open arms. On December 2018, for foreign visitors visiting the Formula E motoring event, Saudi Arabia offered electronic visas and allowed in 1000 tourists from 80 different countries, and it was the same for people flying into the kingdom for Jeddah Season Festival this summer.
