Ramada Hotel & Suites Ajman receives the prestigious Green Globe certification, following a comprehensive audit carried out by Farnek Middle East. The property is the first hotel in the Ajman to secure the certification, which is the result of its creative approach to sustainable management. Ramada Ajman is the first in the UAE to launch a compost project for hotels, and also engages an energy-saving scheme, and a variety of awareness campaigns highlighting sustainability.
The hotel is already recognised for its leadership in UAE having utilized its on-site food composter to pursue a Zero Landfill target. This initiative has also led to the creation an urban farm growing local seasonal crops and vegetables used daily by the hotel kitchen.
Ramada Ajman gained a strong reputation as a sustainability ambassador in Ajman, coordinating an environmental drawing competition in 2013 reaching out to 2,500 students and their families.
Along with the Zero Landfill target some of the sustainable practices incorporated in the daily operations of the 388-roomproperty include recycling of waste material including paper, bottles, cans and glass, cost-effective measures to reduce water and electricity consumption in the guest rooms and offices, and regular training of staff to help spread awareness among the guests and community.
The certification was officially presented by Sandrine Le Biavant, Director of Consultancy of Farnek Middle East, Green Globe’s preferred partner in the region which provides consultancy and auditing on behalf of the organisation.
