Prepare for an epicurean journey as you take in the splendid views of the sleepy-blue waters of the Bay of Bengal at the refurbished Upper Deck. The bistro style menu, inspired from the continental cuisine from Northern France and North Western of Italy, presents an artistic blend of the classic with the modern. The menu is a superb collection of family traditional recipes from these regions, carefully cooked by our chefs using fresh ingredients and presented with healthy salads and aromatic sauces.
The Food Affaire
Celebrating the finest fresh seafood, meats and other exotic delicacies, the serene alfresco dining experience has gone a notch higher. The menu opens with the classic French Onion Soup (Tenderloin Consommé, Cognac, Swiss cheese croutons); and Sea Food Bisque (Seafood melange extract, Pepper Rouille), while starters like Smoked Salmon Tartare (Avocado, cherry tomato, olives, Iceberg); Leek Tart With Goat Cheese (Chevre, Walnut, Parsley); Chicken Liver Pate (Walnut bread, Arugula, Apple chutney); and Pan Fried Scallops (Garlic, Tomato, Basil, Thyme), are sure to get you ready to dive deep into the main-course. Slice into a luscious Duck Confit (Duck fat cooked Potatoes & Carrot, Orange segments); the Coq Au Vin (Mushrooms, Onions, Bacon, Pinot Noir); or the Lamb Blanquette (Pearl onion, Mushrooms, Celery hearts, Herbed Rice), while vegetarians can savour Ravioli Zucchini And Pumpkin(Tomato, Oregano, Garlic, Virgin Olive Oil); Ratatouille Lasagne (Zucchini, Eggplant, Pimento, Pomodori Pelati, Olive oil); Risotto Wild Mushroom (Carnaroli, Mixed mushroom, Parmesan, Baby Spinach); and Vegetable Hot Pot (Aubergine, Courgette, Broccoli, Carrot, Potato, Tomato, Herb Rice).
The delicious Grills menu presents Giant Shrimp Grilled With Sea Salt (Fettuccini, Parmesan, Lemon Zest); Lamb Chop Grilled (Pomme Boulangere, Grilled Aubergine); and the Salmon Roast (Grilled Polenta, Béarnaise sauce). Vegetarians can delight in Artichoke And Waterchestnut Filled Potatoes (Turkish chilli sauce); Grilled Eggplant Roll With Ricotta And Arugula (Cous Cous, Roasted Tomato Sauce); or the signature Polenta Skewers (Red Pepper, Mushroom, Pimento, Courgette, Barbeque Sauce). For those who would like to relax with family and friends, Upper Deck offers the finest of signature cocktails like Chilli Mango Margarita (Chilli infused tequila, triple sec with sour mango and sugar); Dragon’s Lair (Tequila with dragon fruit pulp, fresh lime and sugar); Daiquiri Basilicum (A flavoursome concoction of malibu, pineapple juice, basil leaves, honey, pepper and lime), Grenade(White rum loaded with fresh pomegranate and fresh lime juice served straight) and with martinis like Maison Blance (Gin, fresh lime juice, house crafted ginger syrup and egg white shaken), Fire Fury (Equal parts of gin and dry vermouth fired with tabasco), andChennai Pineapple Rasam (Vodka, triple sec, fresh pineapple, cardamom and fresh lime).
Sip on these delightful cocktails paired with exotic Sandwich, Burger and Wraps, served with a twist. Savor Soft Baguette, unlike a crisp one (Crispy prawns, lettuce, tomato, avocado, remoulade); Duck Club, where confit of duck is used in making of the finger millet bun (BLT, duck, avocado, mushroom and egg); Brie Burger prepared with a brie steak (Tenderloin, Brie, guacamole, Pico de Gallo and fresh roasted chilli garlic aioli); and the much-loved Roasted Veggie Wrap (Grilled Asparagus, Peppers and Zucchini with Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, Lettuce & Tomato on a Spinach Wrap).
While the newly-launched bar adds a dash of spirit to the restaurant, the open kitchen allows you to be involved in the theatre of cooking with the chefs. Upper Deck has the finest collection of Single Malts like Talisker, Oban and Lagavulin and White Wines like French Chardonnay – Maison Louis Jadot, Chablis and Albert Bichot, Moutonne Monopole, Chablis Grand Cru 2007. Italian Chardonnay like Castello Banfi, ‘Fontanelle’ IGT, 2012, from Tuscany. In Sauvignon Blancs – ‘Les Baronnes’ Henri Bourgeois Sancerre, 2012, from Burgundy and Honig Vineyards, 2013, from Napa Valle, U.S. Adding a twist is whites a French blend – Mouton Cadet, Baron Philippe de Rothschild, 2013, from Bordeaux.
In Red Wines we have French pinot noir – Maison Louis Latour, Gevrey Chambertin 2008, from Burgundy and from Tuscany Italian merlot – Castello di Bossi, Girolamo IGT 2003 and Italian sangiovese – Bibi Graetz, Casamatta, Non-Vintage. Bistro concept is not complete without a French Beaujolais, which goes well with the menu – Maison Louis Latour, 2012.
The pathway to Upper Deck is an enchanting drive through lush greenery as one soaks in the scenic beauty and arrives at the charming restaurant situated on a split-level green lawn. The vibrant Upper Deck comprises one large dining space and three smaller ones, all covered with neat white gazebos and offering a choice of seating options – a large family gathering or a quiet romantic meal for two with the twinkling stars and soothing music of the sea waves for company. The effort all along is to ensure nothing interferes with the stunning sea view or the inspired bistro fare on the table. The timber deck adds a rustic touch to the ambience while the elegant wooden lightings lends drama to the atmosphere.
