Several parts of Maryland lie deep under six inches of snow. As the winter storm razes, a flood watch has been issued along the Bay.
About 320 crashes were handled by troopers by 3 p.m. as the season’s first winter storm arrived. Maryland roads carpeted with snow and ice mix, generated more than 200 calls to Maryland State Police on Thursday morning.
Weather conditions in Anne Arundel County include rain and flood watch has been issued.
There are predictions of 4 to 6 inches of snow in northwest Howard, northern Baltimore and northwest Montgomery counties. Winter storm warning has been issued until Friday morning.
Travel could be extremely difficult
Between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Thursday, state troopers statewide had responded to 323 crashes, assisted 163 disabled vehicles and handled 715 calls for service. Conditions are more severe in north and west of Baltimore as per the authorities.
Snow totals posted just after noon by the National Weather Service showed 6 inches in Martinsburg, 6.2 inches in Middleway, 5 inches in Cumberland, 2.8 inches in Bel Air and Montgomery Village, 2.3 at Pimlico, 2 inches in Columbia and 1.7 inches at BWI Airport.
Parking is not allowed on snow snow emergency routes and one might need all weather tires or snow tires.
