A bus carrying 35 passengers travelling from Hassan to Bangalore had a miraculous escape on 07.11.13. as it was gutted in a fire accident fire near Goraguntepalya Signal on Tumkur Road, 14 km from the city.
Only a week ago a 45 passenger bus near Mehbubnagar in Andhra Pradesh was charred beyond recognition The KSRTC Vaibhav, manufactured by Tata met with the accident near Goraguntepalya Signal on Tumkur Road, 14 km from the city. However, timely action from the driver Yusuf Ali Sharif saved the situation. He poured water on the fire and the conductor helped passengers to get out of the bus.
After the passengers left the bus the driver noticed sparks in the engine, there were flames coming out of the engine when six passengers were still inside the bus. The driver cleverly parked the bus on the left and asked all passengers to empty the bus.
The passengers were not allowed to carry their luggage as the driver decided to save the lives of his passengers first over their luggage.
Firemen came at the right time to douse the fire. Most of the luggage was burnt.
