The new M&A laneway in Fortitude Valley will really kick into gear at the end of November when Mighty Mighty Cue + Brew throws open its doors. Vegetarians need not enter this American-style smokehouse, with a roll-up-your-sleeves-and-get-your-hands-dirty-style menu peppered with the requisite brisket, ribs and pulled pork. Did someone say meat coma?
Lindy Hop your way over to South Bank for a slice of 1950s Americana in Brisbane. The kitschy new Southside Diner serves good ol’ fashioned Southern grub, with everything from Buffalo wings, shrimp popcorn and hot dogs, through to an extensive mac and cheese menu. It may not get the heart foundation tick of approval, but damn it’s a tasty trip down memory lane.
Continuing with the carnivorous theme, take your tastebuds on a trip to Argentina at the new London Porterhouse restaurant in Tenerife. With a menu overflowing with prime cuts of meat, mixed grills, empanadas and a more-ish wine list, you’ll be dreaming of a South American adventure faster than you can say ceviche.
There’s nothing better than wrapping your laughing matter around a big hunk-a-burger, and Da’Burger is the latest Brisbane venture to throw its hat into the gourmet burger ring – toting itself as “the best Goddamn burger in Australia”.Settling into a corner position in New Farm, this burger joint prides itself on the freshest produce, sourced as locally as possible.
Jak + Hill
Jack and Jill may have gone up the hill to fetch a pail of water, but there’s no such effort involved in venturing to new Spring Hill hotspot Jak + Hill, nestled underneath the Punthill boutique apartment hotel on the city fringe. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, seven days a week, this cute and cosy café serves up favourites like avocado and feta smash on sourdough for brekkie, pulled pork rolls and herbed schnitzel with pecan and maple slaw at lunch, crispy fish and chips at dinner, a divine eton mess topped with Persian floss for dessert, and so much more.
