All the passengers were seen hanging on the floating motorboat when a rescue team from the Biri Municipal Police Station and a local rescue group had arrived to pluck them out of the sea past 5 p.m. on Tuesday, that is 4th of July, 2017.
They were all brought to the Rural Health Center for the purpose of a medical checkup.
In a report to the Police Regional Office in Eastern Visayas, the police director of Northern Samar, Ceazar Zafiro L. Tannagan identified the passengers as Jerry Espidido, Ray Fecismo, Chresil Mateo, Mark Mateo, Newell Guardino and Edward Pilapil. They are all residents of Gubat, Sorsogon.
According to initial police investigation, the tourists were on board a motorboat named ‘Dodot’ that had arrived from Biri Rock formations.
Another motorboat named ‘Repsol’ had been cruising along Dodot that had capsized owing to strong water current. The tour guide of the group named De los Reyes then reported the accident to the police that at once formed a rescue group.
