7th Pan American Aviation Safety Summits Kicks Off in Panama City, Panama

ALTA Airline logoThe 7th Pan American Aviation Safety Summit is taking place this week in Panama City, Panama.  The Regional Aviation Safety Group-Pan America (RASG-PA) and the Panama Civil Aviation Authority, in partnership with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) are facilitating this year’s safety summit to promote solutions that are critical to the future of the aviation industry in the Latin America and Caribbean region.

The collaborative actions stemming from key conversations with influential industry professionals on mutual concerns and emerging issues at this Safety Summit have contributed greatly to the advancement of aviation in region.  Significant improvements have been made in the Latin America and Caribbean region since the Safety Summit started seven years ago, including greater and closer collaboration among key industry stakeholders, an increase in data-driven analysis, and the implementation of more proactive versus reactive risk mitigation programs.

“This year’s conference will focus on the value of using data to develop risk mitigation programs in order to reduce safety risks, and the importance of collaboration between governments and the industry in achieving even greater safety,” said ALTA’s Executive Director Eduardo Iglesias.

This week’s three-day Safety Summit agenda will focus on the following key topics:

 

Safety Summit attendees include airlines, civil aviation authorities, aviation associations, flight schools, safety experts, operators (commercial, cargo, and corporate), airport personnel, and ATC representatives with executives from ICAO, FAA, ALTA, IATA, ACI-LAC, CANSO, and aircraft manufacturers such as AIRBUS, ATR, Boeing, and Embraer.

IATA and the Flight Safety Foundation are strategic partners for the Safety Summit.  Official hosts are the Panama Civil Aviation Authority and Tocumen International Airport Panama, along with airline partners Copa Airlines and Avianca.  Conference sponsors include Aerobytes, Airbus, Aireon, ATR, Boeing, CEFA Aviation, Embraer, Embry Riddle, Flight Safety Foundation, IATA, Inmarsat, Moving Dot, Rockwell Collins, and Teledyne Controls.
