Highlighting the driving role of sustainable tourism in inclusive development and in combination with the top priorities of G20 members, the 7th T.20 Ministers’ Meeting released its Communiqué in Beijing yesterday on May 20, 2016.
The Communiqué represents their consensus on promoting the tourism industry to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, improving tourism polices and building a “more open global economy”.
During the period of the First World Conference on Tourism for Development, tourism ministers of G20 members and representatives from the European Commission, the International Labour Organization, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the United Nations World Tourism Organization and the World Travel & Tourism Council held a meeting in Beijing and jointly released the 7th T.20 Ministers’ Meeting Communiqué.
All parties of the 7th T.20 Ministers’ Meeting Communiqué agreed to strengthen and expand cooperation to deal with the safety challenges brought by tourism facilitation.
It called on G20 members to take coordinated measures from a long-term perspective, adopt viable cross-sectoral policies, encourage the development of region-based tourism, and take tourism as a key industry for boosting growth and development.
