The Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA) is excited to announce significant advancements in air travel connectivity from La Isabela International Airport (JBQ) and now Punta Cana (PUJ). This extension of services underscores their commitment to strengthening ties with Aruba.

Expanded Weekly Services

In response to escalating demand for travel to the island, Air Century, previously operating the La Isabela International Airport (JBQ) – Aruba (AUA) route twice a week, has expanded its flight offerings. This strategic step aims to capture a larger market share, meet growing demand, and improve overall connectivity. Effective December 15th, Air Century increased its services between JBQ and AUA from two to three weekly flights, providing passengers with greater travel flexibility on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

New Addition to AUA’s Route Map

The Punta Cana – Aruba route existed previously but was discontinued in 2011, leaving a gap in service for many years. Recognizing persistent demand for this route, Air Century seized the opportunity to reinstate it.

Commencing December 22nd, 2023, Air Century will reintroduce the Punta Cana gateway on AUA’s route map. In line with our commitment to diverse travel options, this route will offer year-round flights three times a week, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Omar Chahin, President of Air Century, expressed, “We are thrilled to inaugurate this new route to and from Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ), the primary gateway for tourists to the Dominican Republic. This expansion provides increased connection options. Connectivity is vital for tourism development. With this route, we aim to promote multi-destination travel, enabling our passengers to curate unforgettable experiences in different cities.”

Jo-Anne Meaux-Arends, Aviation Business Development Executive at AAA, stated, “Expanding connectivity within the Caribbean region is a key focus for us in exploring new routes and opportunities for Aruba Airport. The addition of this service to Punta Cana aligns perfectly. We welcome this new route enthusiastically and eagerly anticipate further opportunities that may arise in the future.”
