Looking for an excuse for a golf outing? Or a destination for your annual golf trip? How about a competitive tournament on four of Scotland’s finest links courses, including the legendary Carnoustie Championship, venue of the 2018 Open?
From Sunday 8th May until Thursday 12th May, The Carnoustie Country Classic 2016 will take place on Open qualifying courses Montrose Medal, Panmure, Monifieth Medal and Carnoustie Championship, which is also home of the Senior Open Championship 2016.
This 72-hole Stableford Competition, which is always hotly-contested by an international field of amateur golfers, is open to men (maximum handicap 24) and women (maximum handicap 32), with prizes at each course as well as overall prizes. Included in the £749 tournament fees are five nights’ accommodation at the luxurious 4-star Carnoustie Golf Hotel, a welcome drinks reception, a gala dinner/prizegiving and optional transfers to and from the courses every day.
Last year, a field of over 100 golfers from all over the world competed in the Carnoustie Country Classic, including Mike Lohmueller from Ohio. “Playing in the Carnoustie Country Classic was an unbelievable experience,” said Mike. “These golf courses are extremely challenging but they are absolutely worth the effort.”
A range of highly-popular golf tournaments are held in Carnoustie Country throughout the year. Two of these tournaments are the Scottish Mixed Foursomes in July and the Scottish Golf Pairs Championship in August/September, which are played across several of Carnoustie Country’s magnificent inland courses, including Blairgowrie Rosemount and Kirriemuir, with its views across to the Cairngorm Mountains.
Carnoustie Country is one of Scotland’s top golfing destinations and covers 34 excellent golf courses in and around the county of Angus, on Scotland’s east coast. And with excellent road, rail and air links, and our lighter evenings, it’s possible to travel to Carnoustie Country and play on one of our courses on the same day.
Carnoustie Country also has a wide range of accommodation – from cosy B&Bs to stay-and-play packages in top-class hotels to exclusive-use castles and mansions – and an exceptional choice of mouthwatering food and drink. In fact, Carnoustie Country’s the perfect place to get away from it all with a game of golf – or four, as is the case with the Carnoustie Country Classic!
