Scandinavia is known for its natural beauty, world-class seafood and minimalistic design. But did you know it is also one of the most popular regions in the world for meetings? AIM Group has made a new agreement with the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre in Gothenburg, situated in the heart of Scandinavia. This agreement will facilitate collaboration and increase opportunities offering beneficial commissions and terms to increase business exchange valuable for both parties.
In the city centre and with its “everything under one roof” concept, the venue offers a capacity for 8,800 delegates and 60 meeting rooms. It has more than 40,000 square metres of meeting and exhibition space, eight restaurants – one with a Michelin star – and a hotel, Gothia Towers, with 1,200 rooms.
This spring, the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre, announced its goal to reach new heights with the vision of becoming Europe’s most attractive venue by offering the best overall experience. The planned expansion includes larger entrances, flexible meeting and event facilities and increased hotel capacity. Carin Kindbom, President and CEO, the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre Group says, “Our all-under-one-roof concept is very successful and attractive, and this expansion is planned to meet an even higher demand from all customers not least international customers. Our location, right in the city centre, is really beneficial for all visitors as everything is within walking distance.”
“The new hotel building will enlarge our capacity about 350 additional hotel rooms and provide more meeting rooms,” Carin continues. “The plans also include building another hotel tower and office building at a later stage. We aim to achieve a total hotel capacity of roughly 2,000 rooms by 2030. An additional storey will also be built on top of existing hall areas to create an additional 14,000 square metres of space.”
In recent years, Gothenburg has been competing with other European capitals for the title of most attractive meeting place. In addition to the city’s ability to bring together an innovative business community and a knowledge-intensive academy, with a sustainability focus, it also has a very good size and is within walking distance of fun activities, great food and nature.
