The session was one day after the executive delivered his 2017 policies. He reassured that the government is about to construct more budget hotels, theme parks and shopping centers in the coming months. To attract more families, a theme park is essential as family tourists occupy a significant role in the tourism sector of the city. Besides, a theme park will benefit locals as well.
As per Chui, five star hotel rooms increased by 64 percent since 2005. He also said that the city needed more shopping malls to better its tourism in the coming years. By 2025, another 360,000 sq meters of shopping area would be in need. To quote Chui, ‘Shopping areas can also be used to display local cultural and creative products as well as local delicacies [in the future]’.
Chui urged the young population to come forward and grab the opportunities outlaid by the government. He said, ‘It is better for young people to consider working [as an employee] after they graduate from university, so as to obtain work experience as well as to expand their. What I worry about the most is that if a young person’s business fails it will damage their self-confidence. The government cannot ensure that every start-up will be successful’.
