A4A Applauds the Department of Transportation’s Proposed Rule on Unfair and Deceptive Practices

Published on : Friday, February 21, 2020

Airlines for America (A4A), the industry trade organization for the leading U.S. airlines, applauds the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) proposed rule regarding unfair and deceptive practices.

“This proposal will provide greater transparency for both the U.S. airline industry and the flying public,” said A4A President and CEO Nicholas E. Calio. “We commend Sec. Chao for her leadership in reforming the Department’s regulation of our industry. That effort continues to deliver tremendous benefits to the 2.4 million passengers who travel aboard U.S. airlines every day.”

The DOT’s rule will define DOT’s authority regarding unfair and deceptive practices in rulemakings and enforcement actions in a manner consistent with the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) approach. This will provide greater clarity and transparency for consumers.
