Since then Network Rail has been working around the clock to get the site near Caville Sidings safely repaired, with the road to reopen with temporary traffic lights in place from noon on Saturday 28 May.
Mark Tarry, area director for Network Rail, said: “I’d like to thank residents living near the site and motorists who have been diverted on alternative routes for their patience and understanding while we have carried out the repairs. It’s deeply frustrating for everyone when emergency repairs like this need to be carried out but our team has worked around the clock to get the road reopened as soon as possible and I am delighted to confirm that traffic will be using the A614 again from this weekend.”The temporary traffic lights will remain in place until June 20 to allow embankment repairs to be completed on either side of the road.
