Wonderland is one of the most interesting theme parks of Dubai that had been established quite a long time prior to the renowned theme parks of Dubai Parks and Resorts as well as the IMG World of Adventures.
It had opened way back in the year 1996 between the Creek Park and Grand Hyatt Hotel, and it was the very first amusement park of the city.
Despite the fact, the theme park was never quite known to be extremely impressive, even before it was shut down in 2013. By that time, it had already started to demonstrate signs of neglect. Currently, the theme park is actually on its way to receive a revival.
Plans have been put forward to further redevelop Wonderland.
The cost of the redevelopment project would be around Dhs 1.8 billion that amounts to nearly $490 million. The renovated theme park project would boast of a cultural centre, restaurants, shops, apartments and amusement parks.
Ento Capital Management would commence with the reconstruction in the initial few months of 2017. And, it is scheduled to take as much as three years to be completed.
A particular news agency has reported that previously, there were plans to transform the 2.4 million square foot area into a smaller scale version of Universal Studios and Disneyland.
The pace at which the theme park industry of Dubai is escalating, very soon it is going to give a tough competition to Florida and California that are known to have the maximum number of amusement parks.
