As per a report by ABTA more than 4.5 million (around 31% )of the UK holidaymakers will go on a winter holiday to warmer destinations as the weather in the UK might turn worse at the end of the month.

Victoria Bacon, ABTA’s director of brand and business development said that the holidaymakers are trying to grab the opportunity and make a winter escape as the British winter takes hold and temperature drops.

This year even more people are saying that they will travel abroad for a fix of winter sun.

To avoid the winter blues more people are looking for a winter sun getaway which is up by 3% as compared to last year. The Canary Islands was the most preferred destination for British tourists looking for winter getaway.

There are strong bookings for Tenerife, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria. The temperature in the region during this time of the year will be more than three times the average temperature at home which will be usually between 17-20°C.

There will be an increased likelihood of cold weather towards the end of the month and into the next as per the weather forecasts for the UK..

Destinations like as Mallorca, Cyprus and the Algarve might be preferred by the winter sun seekers.

However, they may not get the scorching temperatures of the summer months but they are warmer and sunnier than the UK.

The popular mid-haul choices are Cape Verde, Turkey and Egypt while for long-haul one can opt for Jamaica and Mexico.
