Miral, a local developer is currently working on the SeaWorld project.
Besides, it also owns and operates the Ferrari World theme park and water park. Apart from that, it is developing the Warner Bros theme park. There are other indoor theme parks, excluding the water park that is naturally outdoors, as per Mohamed Khalifa al-Mubarak who is the chairman of Miral.
SeaWorld would also be a fully indoor and immersive experience.
It would permit them to work for 12 months a year instead of merely focusing on the winter season.
SeaWorld Entertainment and Miral have announced that they had formed a partnership to develop the project in December last year. And, consultants have tendered for roles including that of project management this year.
The marine life-themed park would include the first marine life rescue, research, rehabilitation, return centre and also the resources for the conservation of local marine life.
SeaWorld Abu Dhabi would be the first new SeaWorld attraction without killer whales. And captive killer whales have become quite a controversial issue in the US and campaigners have been demanding their release.
This SeaWorld project is a part of the broader plans of Miral to double the tourist numbers to Yas Island to 48 million by 2022.
