tourismAceh Province has recently been identified as a special Indonesian region, rich in gas and natural resources. Aceh Province is situated in the northern end of Sumatra Island.

Back in the year 2004, a tumultuous tsunami, originating from an earthquake, devastated the capital city Banda Aceh by killing more than 170 hundred innocent lives. This catastrophe compelled the province to restructure from the start.

At present, Aceh is all set to rebuild its economy along with tourism. Completely broken down by an earthquake as a province, Aceh has the possibility to display its key attractions to lure visitors across the globe.

For this reason, Aceh’s regional government is keeping no stones unturned in making preparations to host an international sail event. This event would work as a platform for showcasing and marketing its tourism potential.

The sail event is called Sail Sabang and it will primarily focus on Sabang Island. This event would be part of the national annual event of Sail Indonesia.

The local government is all set to host Sail Sabang that will take place from November 28th and will continue till December 2017. At this international yacht rally, over 100 yachts are anticipated to take part from different countries all over the world. Europe, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand are the countries from where the yachters are expected to participate. Irwandi Yusuf, Aceh Governor has requested that arrangements for the execution of the annual event this year should be made in the most favorable way. “Preparations for Sail Sabang 2017 must be optimized and coordinated with the relevant agencies,” the Aceh governor remarked in Sabang recently.
