Advantage Travel over Christmas for American parents – Trafalgar study

Wednesday, December 26, 2018

Favorite

If given a choice between travelling and Christmas, most American parents would prefer travel as per a study by Trafalgar. Trafalgar surveyed more than 2,500 parents across the country. The results showed that holidays can be stressful, costly and time-consuming. Majority of American parents admitted that they would cancel Christmas this year and travel instead.

While 66 percent respondents said that they would cancel Christmas this year to travel instead, about 78 percent would rather spend their money on a vacation instead of holiday gifts.

Holidays multiply the stress felt by American parents and travelling helps to eliminate the stress.

Holidays spent at home are more expensive than a week-long family vacation in Europe. About 56 percent of parents are planning to spend more than U.S. dollars 5,000 on the holidays in 2018.

Parents have to spend one to two months preparing for the holidays. One third parents have had to take time off from work to prepare for the holidays.

Given the time and money required to celebrate Christmas at home, travelling is preferred by many American parents.

Travelling is more cost effective. It not only helps avoid Holiday related stress, but also helps to de-stress.
