Between the period of January and September 2016, international tourist arrivals to Africa have increased by 8%. As per the latest world tourism barometer by the UNWTO, international tourism demand remained strong throughout the year and North Africa gathered attention in the third quarter.
Around 956 million international tourists traveled the world during these nine months, which was a 4% increase from the same period last year. Although growth was slow during the second quarter, it again picked up during the third according to the UNWTO. China remained the world’s top source market with a double-digit growth in spending. US came next after China. Prospects remain strong for the remaining part of 2016.
