African ministers called on African governments for liberalizing tourism policies so it becomes easy for tourists and operators to tour the continent for increasing tourism potential. The ministers made the remarks during the panel session, “Unlocking Africa’s Tourism Potential”, during the 41st Annual World Tourism Conference in Kigali.
Kigali would be hosting this global level meeting from 28 to 31st. It is the first time that ATA’s tourism conference is hosted in the small central African country.
Tokozile Xasa, SA minister of tourism said that liberalization of Africa skies would not only positively affect tourism in the continent but also equally impact trade, productivity, investment, employment and economic growth.
Zimbabwe’s minister of tourism Walter Mzembi too supported Xasa’s statement and said that the African governments need to ease visa restrictions and open up airspaces for growth of the tourism sector.
