Air India is again under the spotlight for all the wrong reason. Right after Air India flight-620 created a controversy by making an emergency landing because of fire, this time AI-317 made it to the news, by suffocating more than 300 passengers from Delhi to Mumbai for two long hours. The passengers had to endure the long flight, without any air conditioning in the scorching heat of summer.
The passengers informed that the Boeing 747 was already running five hours behind the schedule. The Boeing took flight by ignoring passengers’ complaint about non-working air conditioning system. The passengers felt extremely claustrophobic when the aircraft turned into a sauna chamber. And, that is not all. The passengers also stated that the crew members were acting utterly insensitive and rude towards the passengers, whenever they were complaining about their condition. None of the passengers were served with water, even for once, throughout the journey.
Just when Noida-based couple asked for help, regarding their four-month-old baby, the crew replied with an absurd answer. “If the baby fell unconscious, the crew would handle the situation,” they remarked. The father of the baby boy, Vijay Goel disclosed,” The air-hostesses were rude, uncouth, and discourteous.” Now, he is planning to send a complaint to the minister of state for civil aviation, Mr. Maneesh Sharma.
Strategy Head for INX media, Ritesh Kumar shared, “When we approached the cabin crew, they kept insisting that everything would be fine. It was past 4 a.m., when we demanded that we wanted to get off the plane, but the captain, who identified himself as SK Jha, ordered that the doors be shut.”
This incident brought shame to Ashwani Lohani, AI chairman and managing director, who urged the staffs only two days ago, to ensure that the passengers always get a good experience with AI.
Many of the passengers drafted complaints both to the airline management and the DG of Civil Aviation.
The airline sources stated the fact that many Boeing 747s have the same problem and AI is doing nothing about it. The spokesperson of AI did not give any official statement yet.
The worst of all, none of the crew members of AI-317 apologized to the passengers, either about the delay or about suffocating the travellers in a torture chamber.
