The company’s fleet will be reinforced next year by three aircraft with capacity for 250 seats, he said Monday at a meeting organized by Air Algerie for the promotion of partnership and co-operation with travel agencies working in Western countries.
This investment operation recently approved by the government is outlined in the airline’s action plan for the 2013-2017 period, the official added, stressing that the purchase of 16 aircraft as part of this plan would continue in 2015 and 2016.
In a second delivery, Air Algerie will purchase eight planes with a capacity of 150 seats, in addition to five other aircraft with 70-seat capacity, Houaoui stated.
The strengthening of Air Algérie’s fleet and the projects to modernize the company’s infrastructure come as part Air Algérie’s preparations for the creation of new air links, like those providing services between Algeria and African and Asian countries.
In this context, the service linking Algiers to Abidjan in the Ivory Coast will be re-established, as well air links to other African countries, the official said, adding that the Algiers-Beijing link would be enhanced.
