Thus, two high-capacity aircraft and two medium-lift planes are being chartered for the period from June 22 to September 20, 2015, said the AIRLINE’S head of the commercial division, Zohir Houaoui.
The current fleet of Air Algeria consists of 47 aircraft, four of which were recently acquired, as part of its programme of acquisition of 16 new aircraft by the end of 2016 to increase its fleet to 59 planes.
Air Algerie recently purchased two Airbus A 330-200 planes with a capacity of 251 seats each and two ATR 72-600 aircraft with a capacity of 66 seats each.
The summer season, which coincides this year with the month of Ramadan, and the Umrah and the Hajj pilgrimage season, is the peak travel period of the year for Air Algeria, and, especially for the transportation of members of the Algerian community abroad who return to spend holidays in the country.
“The flow of passengers is more important in the second half of the summer season, which will require additional flights from August 15 to September 3, in order to ensure the return of Algerian citizens,” said Houaoui.
For this purpose, 138 additional flights are scheduled during this period with a capacity of 23,834 seats, an increase of 45 per cent compared with the change for the previous summer season.
