China’s Air China will launch direct flights from Beijing to northwest Cambodian Siem Reap province next month in view of increasing exchanges between both countries, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported.
Chinese media said the air carrier’s Boeing 747s will initially have two flights a week before increasing to four flights early next year.
Ngao Seang, head of the Siem Reap tourism representative office, said the new flights are expected to boost tourist arrivals from China to the province, home to the world-renowned Angkor Wat temple.
Latest statistics show Siem Reap province received more than 2.3 million foreign tourists last year with the highest from South Korea (302,000) followed by Vietnam (202,000) and China (163,000).
