In keeping with the theme of the World Expo in Milan “Feeding the planet, energy for life”, Air France has created an exhibition which is a journey through the sky and on the ground, highlighting its culinary delights for the 100,000 visitors who are expected. Through windows and hanging compositions, visitors take a stroll between great French tradition and innovation, from breakfast to petit fours.
FRANCE AND ITS DIVERSITY REFLECTED ON BOARD AIR FRANCE
On board its flights, Air France offers its customers privileged moments of pleasure and relaxation. In-flight catering has a special role to play, with excellence as the watchword, from exceptional service to gourmet meals, from culinary tradition to new flavours, from French regional specialities to world cuisine.
For aperitif, champagne, wine and many other drinks, accompanied by savoury crackers are offered to all passengers. They then have a choice of two hot dishes. Customers can enjoy many different culinary delights which vary depending on the month and the destination.
The menus are designed to suit all tastes and are inspired by French, traditional, exotic and modern cuisine, designed using innovative flavours from all over the world.
As for the wines, they reflect the great diversity of the various different French grape varieties, and to ensure they bring out the best, the dishes and wines complement each other perfectly.
AIR FRANCE-KLM AND THE FUTURE OF AIR TRAVEL
By connecting people, economies and cultures, air transport is a crucial driver of global socio-economic growth. Although it only contributes to CO2 emissions of human origin by 2%, the airline industry was the first to embark on the path of sustainable growth based on a partnership between all industry players and the public authorities.
At the 2015 Paris Air Show, Air France-KLM pledged to:
– Reduce by 20% the CO2 emissions from its flight operations by 2020 compared to 2011, ex-pressed in grams of CO2 per passenger per km
– Improve by 20% the energy performance of its fixed installations by 2020 compared to 2011, expressed in eq. kWh per sq. m.
– Involve everyone to promote the development of biofuel for the aviation industry in France and the Netherlands
At the 2015 World Expo in Milan, Alexandre de Juniac, Chairman and CEO of Air France-KLM said: “Air France and Air France-KLM Group are committed to a move upmarket of their products and services. A move upmarket and know-how that is naturally illustrated at Air France by its catering, directly related to the theme of the Expo. Every year the Company serves over 18 million meals. This is also why developing our activity innovatively and responsibly is a major area that we wish to pursue as part of our Perform 2020 strategic plan”.
