The flight initially took off from Auckland Airport and faced a mechanical emergency right after it took off.
The Pilot decided to go for an emergency landing as one of the engines of the flight started to give trouble in the air.
The pilot shut down one of the engines as a precaution before landing. The flight finally landed safely in the afternoon.
The passengers and the cabin crew were evacuated safely from the flight and the passengers were rescheduled for another flight to their destination.
Spokesperson from Air New Zealand stated that the Q300 aircraft was designed in a way that it can be operated on a single engine alone, without threatening the lives of the passengers and the crew members onboard.
The local fire service informed that after the request for emergency landing came, 16 fire trucks were sent to the site but none of them were used as the flight landed safely. Only one fire truck remained at the site as a precaution.
