Air New Zealand has now said that its flight cancellation due to Roll Royce engine check in summer period has impacted around fourteen thousand travellers.

Air New Zealand has made changes over the holiday period. As per the airline, the changes are necessary because online global issues are affecting some Rolls-Royce engines on its Boeing 787-0 aircraft. However, flights within New Zealand will not be affected.

The Air New Zealand has admitted that around 14,000 passengers would be affected by the scheduling changes but it has also said that it will try to arrange alternative flights in the coming days.

In case, the flights are booked through a travel agent, the agent is supposed to be in touch.

The airline has suspended its twice-weekly seasonal Christchurch-Perth service, causing the cancellation of 62 flights.

The second daily Auckland-Perth service from December 10, 2019, until January 5, 2020, is also going to be cancelled.

A limited number of international cancellations are also supposed to take place from December 10 to January 2 outside the Perth route.

The airline is going to start the customer’s booking process this week and it will start contacting the affected customers following this.

Customers booked via travel agent are likely to be contacted by their booking agents.

Passengers have been asked to visit the Air New Zealand’s Travel Alerts section for the updates. Passengers will also be given information about all these things on social media.

Air New Zealand’s senior manager of customer care and communications Doug Grant has said that the airline never thought that it would be facing problems with Rolls-Royce Trent 100 engines. He said that the airline was now taking measures to lessen the impact of the decision on customers.

The Rolls Royce Trent 1000 engines have been creating problems for the Air New Zealand since December 2017. The problem popped up for the first time when the airline secured lease aircraft capacity to maintain its timetable.
