Germany’s second largest airline is changing its lead marketing agency and set to appoint the communications agency Scholz & Friends from January 2017. The Berlin-based agency won the contract against several competitors in a nationwide tender.
airberlin unveiled in September a far-reaching restructuring of its business, which will see the company concentrate its core operations as a dedicated, focused network carrier serving higher-yielding markets, from its two key hubs in Berlin and Dusseldorf with a core fleet of 75 aircraft.
Scholz & Friends will support the airline as the new lead agency to realign the brand with the restructuring.
“airberlin is repositioning itself. Scholz & Friends has understood how we wish to develop the brand. In the future, it will provide assistance in various areas, from digital through social media and traditional marketing. We’re looking forward to working with them, and would like to thank Track for their excellent work over the past nine years”, says Andrew Ward, SVP Marketing & Guest Experience at airberlin.
“Together with the airberlin team, we look forward to release the potential of the airberlin brand. As the new lead agency we are pleased to support the brand to take off”, said Dr. Percy Smend, Managing Partner of the Scholz & Friends Group.
airberlin will continue to collaborate with Track for Customer Relationship Management (CRM). airberlin has also moved from Heye to Starcom for their media bookings at the beginning of this year and has now completed its changes in its agency landscape.
